Efic is excited to congratulate successful exporter HMPS, a South Australian company which specialises in the development and manufacturing of high quality machinery for packaging processes, on their recent award wins at the Auspack 2015 awards.

HMPS was awarded the Export Achievement Award and the Best New Design Award, as part of the bi-annual trade show which showcases and celebrates excellence in the packaging and processing machinery and materials industry.

This year, the trade show was hosted in Melbourne and attracted 315 exhibitors from Australia and around the world.

HMPS was up against over a hundred nominations and managed to take out two of the four technical awards, a significant achievement for the business which started out as a packaging company in 1980 to support the thriving South Australian wine industry, and now exports its packaging systems to international clients around the world.

The Export Achievement Award recognised HMPS’s innovative work supplying Nestlé in South Africa with a piece of uniquepackaging machinery which had the capability to process sachets of food into both boxes and trays at the same time – an innovative approach using one machine instead of two to complete the dual functions.

The contract was worth several hundred thousand dollars and was a significant project for HMPS, involving a strong R&D component. The project was completed last year and was extremely successful, given HMPS’s ability to customise complex machinery to exactly meet the customer’s needs.

HMPS Financial Controller Linh Bui commented: “This award was a great win for us and a significant achievement for Australian exporters in general, particularly considering we were up against global competitors from the US, Asia and Europe.”

“We hope other Australian exporters can take pride in the fact that as a group we are able to compete on a multinational stage and win – a great achievement for Australia internationally.”
