Efic’s Exporter Sentiment Index

Efic’s Exporter Sentiment Index is a bi-annual study, tracking key sentiment indicators among Australian SME Exporters.

This study provides insights into expectations around financial markets, current and future business conditions, overseas sales growth forecasts, and expectations around access to credit.

About the Sentiment Study

The Efic Australian Exporter Sentiment Study is conducted among Australian SME exporters to provide a snapshot of business opinions regarding the current and expected future outlook (next 12 months) for their business and the broader economic conditions that impact their business

Key measures of current and future financial situation, future economic conditions, future overseas sales revenue and profitability, employee growth and access to finance for international business are combined to provide an overall Sentiment Index as a measure of business confidence.

The Sentiment Index is expressed as 100.0 plus the unweighted average of the difference (net balance) between the percentage of respondents who give favourable answers and those who give unfavourable answers to six key business sentiment questions.

Overall sentiment has lifted

In the July 2017 Index, overall business sentiment has lifted with high levels of confidence across all sentiment measures, particularly financial success in the next 12 months and positive expectations around future overseas sales revenue.

The overall Sentiment Index is a very positive 145, up from 138 reported in the February 2017 Index.
