JML Group Pty Ltd, a multi-award winning Newcastle engineering company renowned for the ‘buildability’ of its innovative construction designs, has been an EFIC client for nearly ten years.

JML is currently using the funds made available through EFIC Headway and HSBC for a major export venture in the Persian Gulf involving the fit out of the terminal and concourse at the vast new Dubai International Airport.

“We started working with EFIC when we realised that our export contracts were large and servicing them was becoming an issue.  The EFIC Headway guarantee allowed us to obtain additional funds from our bank to boost our working capital, enabling us to service some of our overseas markets,” said JML Managing Director, Michael Lavis.

A past winner of the NSW Export Awards and a recipient of awards from the Australian Institute of Steel Construction and the Australian Institute of Engineers, JML has applied its engineering skills to local projects including Sydney’s Star City Casino, Reef Casino Cairns, the British High Commission and the rebuilt Sydney Hilton.

JML’s international ventures began in the mid-1990s in Hong Kong and Singapore before moving further afield to the United Kingdom and Korea.  The company’s reputation for employing a solutions-focused approach to make architects’ design concepts an engineering reality helped JML to secure the Dubai International Airport contract.

EFIC Headway is a financial guarantee from EFIC to a participating bank, designed especially for small to medium-sized exporters to overcome the common problem of limited access to working capital.
