EFIC has received applications for facilities for the following Category A projects. Under the terms of EFIC's Environment Policy, Category A Projects are considered likely to have significant adverse environmental and/or social impacts. As part of the assessment process for Category A projects, EFIC allows a public consultation period of not less than 30 days in relation to the sponsor's assessment of the environmental and social impact of the project. A link to this assessment has been provided - see "Project Link" in the table below. For reference, EFIC generally expects the sponsor's environmental and social impact assessment to be undertaken with reference to International Finance Corporation's 'Performance Standard 1: Social and Environmental Assessment and Management Systems'. Parties interested in providing comments on the impact assessment undertaken by the project sponsors should e-mail them by the closing date for public comments on the particular project. Alternatively they may be mailed to: Chief Credit Officer Export Finance and Insurance Corporation PO Box R65 Royal Exchange NSW 1223 Australia or faxed to EFIC at +612 9251 3851. The Project will produce gold doré. EFIC previously disclosed its potential involvement in the Gold Ridge Gold Mine over the period 18 August to 17 September 2008. Amendments have been made to the environmental assessment disclosed at that time and further information is now available. EFIC therefore decided to undertake this further consultation period.
