Sydney hosts meeting of Asian Export-Import Banks

Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC), Australia’s export credit agency, is hosting the 14th Annual Meeting of the Asian EXIM Banks Forum.  This three day event starting today will be attended by delegates from  nine member EXIM Banks from countries of the Asian region, namely: Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

The Asian EXIM Banks Forum was formed in 1996 with the core objective of enhancing co-operation and forging stronger relationships between member EXIM Banks in promoting global trade and investment   Members meet annually and in pursuit of this objective, the chosen theme of this year’s annual meeting is ‘The Changing Face of Asian EXIM Banks – Managing Complexity’. 

‘We’re delighted to host this year’s Annual Meeting  of the Asian ExIM Banks Forum.  It is now more important than ever for members of this Forum to collaborate and work together in supporting  trade and investment in international markets”, said Angus Armour, Managing Director of EFIC.  “The fact that our members are prepared to travel to Sydney to share their strategies and discuss how we can best work together particularly in times like the current global financial crisis is testament to the importance we have all placed on Asian EXIM Banks.”

The Forum will conclude on Friday 31st October.  The 2009 Annual Meeting of this  Forum will be hosted by The Export-Import Bank of Thailand.
