EFIC provided a guarantee so NGIS Australia could access additional working capital
NGIS Australia Pty Ltd, a Perth-based company creating innovative geographic information system (GIS) applications and software for a range of industries, was finding a growing market in Hong Kong for its advanced spatial technologies.
The company needed additional working capital to develop a three-dimensional (3D) environmental impact assessment website for the Hong Kong Planning Department.
Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC), Australia’s export credit agency, provided a guarantee to NGIS Australia’s bank, ANZ, to help the company fulfil its Hong Kong contract.
A guarantee from EFIC enables eligible SME exporters to access additional working capital from their bank to help their export business grow.
“NGIS offers a range of new technologies to the mining, energy, agribusiness and other industries,” said NGIS Australia’s managing director Paul Farrell. “We’re pleased that EFIC has been able to provide us with support to continue to develop our international expansion plans.”
NGIS’s 3D modelling software allows planners and the public to visualise proposed urban developments. The company, which has a subsidiary in Hong Kong, has delivered other 3D modelling solutions to the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department and Office of the Telecommunications Authority.
Established in 1993, NGIS Australia has successfully developed GIS solutions for clients across the Asia-Pacific region and in Africa, and frequently works with international development agencies to deliver projects in developing countries.
The company assisted post-tsunami reconstruction efforts in Aceh, Indonesia by building a team of experts to establish the Spatial Information and Mapping Centre.
