EFIC sponsors Awards recognising exporting success

EFIC proudly sponsored the 49th Australian Export Awards that were presented at a gala event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday 8 December 2011.

Award winners were commended for their achievements and commitment, and regarded as role models in the business community, acting as mentors and encouraging other companies to compete in international markets.

There were 12 Award categories reflecting Australia’s export landscape: from small business and regional to large services, arts and manufacturing, there was a category to suit everyone. The program is made possible through the collaboration of all the States and Territories, who each run their export awards programs, and the winners progress to be finalists in the Australian Export Awards.

The Prime Minister’s Export of the Year Award went to Sedgman Limited – a Queensland based company that specialises in cleaning coal and has helped implement ecologically sustainable initiatives in many development countries.

The awards, which celebrate their 50th year in 2012, recognise excellence and the importance of Australian exports to our economy, with the 75 finalists in this year’s Awards contributing $5.6 billion in export earnings to the Australian economy, and employing more than 10,000 people.
